Academic & Career Programs

The Exodus IMPACT (Immersing Motivated Participants in Academic & Career Training) Initiative is an innovative program designed to advance the goals of career planning, training and the attainment of unique career opportunities for Exodus Transitional Community Inc.’s participants, staff and extended community. It supplements the Exodus Contract and our employment placement services with an intense, full time program featuring a series of workshops, lectures, hands on training and group exercises that are designed to help participants identify career goals and devise a blueprint for achieving them.

The initiative extends beyond the interview and resume preparation services afforded to all Exodus participants and offers individualized counseling, skills assessment and career development. It will seek the guidance and support of specialists in chosen fields through meaningful partnerships with potential employers. Participants complete the program with placement in a full-time paid internship which will enhance his/her resume with on-the-job experience.

The NFL (“New Found Life”) Scholarship program is a partner initiative which sets aside funds to address the specific financial needs of participants and staff that are in an advanced track to meet their career goals. Scholarships are available through a competitive process that involves an essay to define and justify need and are intended to address needs for certification, credentialing, educational subsidies and/or removing obstacles to job search such at tattoo removal or other common challenges faced by our participants.

“The partnering of the Exodus IMPACT Initiative and the NFL Scholarship are an important addition to the Exodus portfolio of services. These make us an intricate part of our participant’s future and we are invested in their success”, states Julio Medina, Exodus Founder/Executive Director and creator of the new initiatives. “Beyond our goal to break the cycle of recidivism, these initiatives help insure growth for the individual participants and the larger community.”
