TASC (GED) PREPARATION COURSE
Monday to Friday from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm
To empower our adult and youth participants for personal and professional growth, Exodus offers an engaging 2 to 3-month TASC preparation course (Test Assessing Secondary Completion, formerly known as the GED), taught by state-certified TASC instructors. Tests, class assignments, and homework are used to evaluate student progress and mastery of the subject material, and to challenge the student with problem solving and critical thinking.
Students have access to a dedicated classroom space as well as the computer lab, and are paired with a full-time tutor to supplement the course and provide individualized support. Students are expected to spend approximately 20 hours per week on their TASC preparation activities, but many are here from Monday to Friday, dawn to dusk!
With technology rapidly changing, it can be difficult to keep up with technological changes, especially for those who have served time. Here at Exodus, we provide computer literacy training for men, women, and young adults looking to become proficient in standard computer use.
Our computer literacy class is paired with our job readiness training in the week following our Walking Through the Wilderness workshop. Participants in our computer literacy class meet three times a week, and come away from the course having learned the basics on how to use a desktop computer, set up an email account, use Microsoft Word, conduct online job searches, and complete online job applications.
