Carlos Valencia, Program Director of Exodus Poughkeepsie Office, joined Exodus in August 2014 as a Dutchess County Reentry Coordinator. A few months after he began, he was promoted to program director and continued with the Re-Entry coordinator responsibilities. His initial goal when he started with the organization was to reconnect the Exodus Transitional Community to the Dutchess County agencies, the community, and especially with the Department of Corrections and Community Supervision (DOCCS/PAROLE).
Prior to joining Exodus, Mr. Valencia spent 14 years with Family of Woodstock, Inc.: a nonprofit organization in Ulster County. His primary responsibilities as the Adult Case Management Services (ACMS)- Assistant Program Director was supervising bilingual case managers, developing and coordinating the Reentry program in Ulster County, and the development of the ACMS for the community. Before he joined Family of Woodstock, he spent 12 years as a residential coordinator and LPN for special needs youth at a residential group home in Staatsburg, NY.
As a member of the RUPCO Board of Directors for 6 consecutive years and 5 years as a Human Rights commissioner in Ulster County, Mr. Valencia has been able to advocate for the Latin community in Ulster County.
