In the past weeks, we have faced an unprecedented challenge that threatens the very foundation of the work we do at Exodus Transitional Community and the well-being of the people we serve. On January 27, 2025, the Trump administration issued a sweeping freeze on federal funding, cutting off vital resources for nonprofits, social services, and life-saving initiatives.

Although a federal judge temporarily blocked this disastrous decision, the administration has made it clear that they will continue to pursue harmful funding restrictions. If we don’t act now, critical programs that support justice-impacted individuals, survivors of trauma, and our communities could be devastated.

What This Means for Exodus and OurCommunity

The funding freeze—and any future attempts to reinstate it—would have animmediate and devastating impact on the people we serve:

🔹 Peace Brokers, our community-based violence intervention program, could lose crucial funding, putting our gun violence prevention efforts atrisk.
🔹 Job training, mentorship, and reentry programs—lifelines forjustice-impacted individuals—are at risk of losing funding.
🔹 Mental health and trauma support services could be disrupted, leavingindividuals without critical resources during their transition home.

While the White House has since rescinded the memo, the fight is far from over. The administration has made it clear that they intend to move forward with new, targeted funding restrictions. We cannot let this happen.

Even as we fight to protect federal funding, there are other critical ways you can support Exodus and ensure we continue providing life-changing services. Every action makes a difference!
